Volunteers – Job Description
Job: Lily Pad Trainee Mentor/Cafe Job Coach
Reports to: Kitchen Manager, Executive Director

The mission of The Lily Pad Foundation is to enhance the lives of adults with special needs with work force training through internship opportunities at The Lily Pad Cafe. We are looking for mission-minded volunteers to join our team as Mentors and Job Coaches. These individuals will work side by side with our Lily Pad Cafe interns as they learn the basic skills for the culinary and hospitality industry. Come join the fun!

JOB OVERVIEW

As a volunteer trainee mentor and/or job coach, this role is to support, prompt and encourage the interns in their various roles at the café (see roles below). A mentor will assist during the training program. Job coaches will assist during times we are open to the public for lunch service. Both roles will serve the same purpose, with a title to designate the time when volunteering. Upon arrival, please introduce yourself to all interns. Job coaches should not perform duties without an intern present. Please allow the interns to self-correct by asking questions and giving gentle reminders and/or prompts. All regular (more than once a month) job coaches in the cafe must complete a background check and maintain an understanding of food safety standards. Thank you for your interest in our mission!

Cafe roles include, but are not limited to: Greeting, Dish Pit, Bussing, Register, Serving, Kitchen.
